Internships and Volunteer Opportunities Available in 2015

Volunteer Positions in 2015

We have a number of volunteer positions available. While mostly we have focused on recruiting “interns” — typically students looking for work experience in this exciting and emerging field — we are also interested in engaging adult volunteers for a variety of challenges, some of which could become economically-rewarding opportunities later this year. If you think you’d like to explore this option, please contact us through this site, or email [email protected] for more information. Internship positions are listed and regularly updated below.

Internships for Summer 2015

We’re looking for a number of interns, to help us with a range of challenges from web design and updating, to researching the latest trends in conservation and renewables, to working with energy contractors and property owners, to grant writing, and so on. These are (initially) unpaid internships, with the possibility of future employment — and the certainty of an interesting and useful experience. These positions were filled over summer 2014 by an extremely talented team, and we’re now looking for interns to help us this year.

(1) Event Planning Interns

The event planning interns will coordinate with senior staff to create a sports event to benefit the organization. The event will likely be a running race within the northern region of NJ. The Event Planning team will engage in all facets of planning for the event including but not limited to:

  1. Planning the race course.
  2. Contacting the local municipalities to seek the required permits and arrangements for emergency personnel.
  3. Advertise the race in social media, running journals and local venues.
  4. Seek sponsorship.
  5. Create a website.
  6. Manage the funding and budgeting.
  7. Request and manage volunteers for and during the event.
  8. Tabulate race results and post them online.
  9. Arrange for awards presentation and after-race party.

Qualifications: Student in Digital Marketing and/or Public Relations or similar background with an interest in sports and the environment.
